As an expression of the University of Mobile's culture of learning, faith and leadership, classes will be cancelled for this day to engage in Project Serve. All UMobile faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to participate.
The university takes a practical, hands-on approach to cultivating life-change in its circle of influence, through classroom learning and community service alike. The UMobile mission of "Changing lives to change the world" isn't about education alone - it's about transforming the nation by meeting both spiritual and physical needs of people. Through Project Serve, UMobile impacts thousands of lives by being the hands and feet of the gospel of Christ throughout the community.
Service Leaders are chosen from each area of the university to coordinate teams and locations in which to serve. A list of Service Leaders and projects is listed below.
The day will begin at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and a rally in front of Bedsole Commons. After a send-off from Dr. Mark Foley and a group photo, teams will depart to various locations to serve.
The University of Mobile began this campus-wide day of service in 2011 in celebration of the university's 50th anniversary. Last year, more than 1,100 UMobile faculty, staff, alumni and students served at 60 locations throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties.
