Associate Degree in Nursing

The graduate of the A.D.N. Program is a candidate for registered nurse licensure and functions as a contributing member of the health care team.  The graduate is prepared to function as a beginning practitioner of nursing in caring for people of all ages with evident, common, recurring health problems in multiple health care settings.  The A.D.N. graduate utilizes critical thinking decision-making skills while providing direct care to an individual or groups of individuals.  The graduate is expected to view nursing education as a beginning on-going process and a basis for further study through participation in continuing education programs or formalized higher education.

Suggested Curriculum

For admission to the Associate Degree Program, the student:

  1. Must have a 2.75 grade point average and a 21 ACT. Applicants 25 years of age and older, or students who have earned 24 or more acceptable semester hours at regionally accredited colleges or universities with GPAs of 3.00 or higher, are exempt from the ACT requirement. Students who have earned a bachelor's or master's degree are exempt from the ACT requirement.
  2. File an Application for Clinical Admission between November 1 and March 1 prior to the desired Fall admission.

LPN to ADN Program

A Licensed Practical Nurse who has met all admission requirements may be considered for admission with advanced standing. It is then possible to complete the program in three semesters.

Admission Requirements and Application

For admission to the LPN to ADN program, the student:

  1. Must possess a current unrestricted LPN license.
  2. Must have a 2.75 grade point average and a 21 ACT. Applicants 25 years of age and older, or students who have earned 24 or more acceptable semester hours at regionally accredited colleges or universities with GPAs of 3.00 or higher, are exempt from this requirement. Students who have earned a bachelor's or master's degree are exempt from the ACT requirement.
  3. Complete 24 semester hours of required core curriculum including BIO 201, BIO 202, and BIO 301 with a grade of C or better prior to admission.
  4. File an Application to Clinical Nursing between November 1 and March 1 prior to desired Summer admission.
