The Miss UM Pageant is an official Miss Alabama/Miss America Preliminary.

Miss UM 2013 will compete for the title of Miss Alabama in June at Samford University’s Wright Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Miss Alabama will compete for the title of Miss America in Atlantic City in September.

Miss Alabama

The Miss Alabama Pageant is the competition that selects the representative for Alabama to compete for the title of Miss America. Held in June of each year in Birmingham, the competition awarded over $104,000 in cash college scholarships to its participants in 2008. Additionally, significant in-kind college scholarships are made available to contestants each year.

Miss America

The Miss America Organization is one of the nation's leading achievement programs and the world's largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. This assistance is not just for the handful of young women who become Miss America, but is available to the over 12,000 young women who compete in the state and local competitions as well.
