Grants

Grants are need-based gift aid awarded to students who qualify. To determine eligibility for most of the following programs, students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have results sent to the University of Mobile.

 Alabama Student Grant Program - Students who have been a resident of the state of Alabama for 12 months and are a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident. The annual amount is approximately $360. An application is required.

Federal Pell Grant - This federal grant is administered by the Department of Education to undergraduate students demonstrating a high level of financial need.  The amount of these grants varies and is determined by the Department of Education.

The following grants are for traditional undergraduate students only:

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) - These federal grants are awarded through the university to undergraduate students demonstrating a high financial need.  The amount of these grants varies and awards are limited.

University of Mobile Gift Aid - These need-based grants funded by the university are awarded to students demonstrating financial need.

Church Ministry Grant :

  • Designed to assist persons preparing for careers as full-time vocational staff members in the context of the Southern Baptist Convention, which traditionally includes: pastor, minister of music, minister of education, minister of youth, or missionary church planter. An application is required.
  • Up to $3,000 per year for up to 8 semesters (will not stack with academic scholarships) 
  • Additional $1,000 per year Room and Board Grant for students living on campus
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours per semester
  • Annual renewal process required
Church Service Grant :
  • Designed to assist persons preparing for careers as full-time staff members in a New Testament Church. An application is required.
  • $1,000 per year for up to 8 semesters
  • Additional $1,000 per year Room and Board Grant for students living on campus.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours per semester
  • CSG may be combined with other institutional aid (excluding athletics) up to a maximum award amount of $6,500.
  • Annual renewal process required
Minister's Dependent Grant :
  • Legal dependants of ordained Southern Baptist ministers employed by a Southern Baptist Church or Southern Baptist organization are eligible for a half-tuition scholarship. Will not stack with any other institutional aid except a Preview Day Scholarship. An application is required.
  • Legal dependants of ordained ministers of a New Testament church outside the Southern Baptist denomination are eligible for a $1,000 per year grant in addition to other institutional aid not to exceed $6,500 annually. An application is required.
  • Annual renewal process required
     

NOTE: Any combination of gift aid from institutional and outside resources will not exceed the student’s cost of attendance.
