The University of Mobile has a wonderful history of caring about students in all areas of life. Each graduate of UM could tell a story of kind and caring professors and administrators who have been helpful and supportive, both academically and spiritually, and in some cases physically. I hear from current students and recent graduates about the difference the University of Mobile has made in their lives.
The campus is much different now from when I was a student. Our school has grown physically, with many new buildings such as residence halls, the Harrigan Center, The Commons and the Ingram Dining Hall expansion, just to name a few. With each new facility, more academic and spiritual life programs can be offered that will prepare students to make a difference. Our campus has also grown spiritually, with the incorporation of a Christian world view into all aspects of university life. UM’s philosophy statement, “Changing Lives to Change the World,” is certainly evident in the programs offered, the changes taking place, and the impact the students will have on the world.
As alumni we support our alma mater through programs we sponsor such as “Life After Graduation.” You will find alumni volunteering with the Miss University of Mobile pageant, cheering on the Rams in athletic events, and showing our pride and support by attending concerts such as “Christmas Spectacular!”
I chose to begin supporting the University of Mobile financially because of the legacy that I can leave through my alma mater. With the support of alumni, through gifts both large and small, more students can be helped to achieve their goal of a college degree. Gifts such as ours helped create this great university, and our support will build on that legacy.
The University of Mobile has made a difference in my life and yours. Together, we can make a difference for students today and in years to come. I am proud to be a graduate of the University of Mobile. Go Rams!
