MEMPHIS, Tenn-- Four University of Mobile runners kicked off the 2011 women's cross country season by running at the Brooks Memphis Twilight XC Classic Saturday evening. The 5K run was held at the Mike Rose Complex and featured over 200 runners, including many from NCAA schools.

HOUSTON, Texas-- The University of Mobile volleyball team earned a split at the UST Labor Day Tournament over the weekend. On Friday, Mobile fell to host University of St. Thomas 2-3 (25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25, 11-15) and then defeated Huston-Tillotson 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-23). Saturday saw Mobile defeat Friends University 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-14) and fall to Great Falls 0-3 (19-25, 16-25, 15-25).

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 2nd-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team blasted 18th-ranked SCAD-Savannah 5-0 Saturday afternoon. Mobile (2-0) will battle Mississippi College Friday, Sept. 9 at 5 pm in the UMobile Orange Beach Classic. The Rams out shot SCAD 19-10 and got a pair of goals from Deshorn Brown for the second-straight game.

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The 13th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team fell 2-3 to Northwood University in rainy conditions Saturday morning. Mobile (0-1-1) will next play Carroll College Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 pm in the UMobile Orange Beach Classic. Despite Mobile getting on the scoreboard first, via an own goal, Northwood controlled the tempo with a 16-3 edge in shots, with eight in each half.

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 2nd-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team started 2011 by defeating Embry-Riddle 2-1 at the AUM Southern States Athletic/Sun Conference Showdown Friday. 2010 1st-Team NAIA All-American Deshorn Brown picked up right where he left off, tallying both Mobile goals to put the Rams in the win column. The sophomore started the game by scoring on a feed from newcomer Michael Azira and fellow All-American Stephen Okai just 3:45 into the contest.
