ROME, Ga-- The University of Mobile split a SSAC baseball twin bill against Shorter University Saturday, taking the 7-inning opener 8-3 and falling 10-5 in the finale. Mobile (16-15, 9-8) and Shorter (22-10, 11-6) will wrap up the series Sunday at 1 pm. Michael King went the distance in the opener to grab the win for Mobile, limiting Shorter to 3 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings of mound work. He struck out 6 and walked 4. At the plate, Braxton Hamil went 2-for-4 with a 3-run homer, Ryne Phillips added 2 hits and 3 RBI and Ryan Waltman went 2-for-3 at the dish.

KANSAS CITY, Mo-- Alice Honnery was named Honorable Mention NAIA All-America for the second-straight year Wednesday with the release of the 2012 Division I Women's Basketball teams by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. A First Team, Second Team, Third Team and Honorable Mention selections were chosen by the All-America committee. A senior post player from New South Wales, Australia, Honnery led the Lady Rams with 15.3 points, 10.86 rebounds, 2.64 assists, 1.21 steals and 3.93 blocks per game. She led the NAIA in total blocks with 110 and blocks per game, was 2nd with a .577 field goal percentage and was 9th in rebounds per contest.

KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The University of Mobile's Antonio Hester was tabbed as a Third-Team All-American Wednesday, when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2011-12 Division I Men's Basketball All-America Teams. Hester, a junior forward from Miami, Fla., paced the Rams with 15.48 points per game, 8.58 rebounds and 1.48 blocks per contest. The 8.58 rebounds per game breaks Robert Jones' school record, which was set in 2007-08. He led the NAIA with a .668 field goal percentage, was 13th with 3.55 offensive boards per game and 18th with 266 total boards.

TALLADEGA, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Talladega College Tuesday. The Rams took the opener 7-4 before falling 5-1 in the finale. Mobile (15-14, 8-7) visits Shorter University for a three-game set this weekend, beginning Friday at 2 pm. Corey Fountain got the win in the opener with 2 innings of perfect relief, and Josh Blaylock picked up the save with .2 innings of scoreless relief.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla-- The University of Mobile women's golf team finished 11th at the 23rd Annual Eagle Invitational Tuesday. The two-day tournament took place at the Par-72, 6,085-yard LPGA International Champions Course. The Lady Rams carded a collective 87-over 663 (325, 338), while Lynn University won the tournament with a +31 607 (298, 309).

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished in 12th place at the 23rd Annual Eagle Invitational Tuesday. The tournament took place at the Par-72, 6,947-yard LPGA International. The Rams carded a 95-over 959 (313, 329, 317) in the three-round tournament, while Embry-Riddle won the event with a 31-over 895 (289, 304, 302).

MOBILE, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile softball team split a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader with visiting Faulkner University Tuesday, taking the opener 1-0 and falling 3-2 in the finale. Mobile (17-4, 1-1) will host 13th-ranked Auburn University-Montgomery Friday at 4 pm for a twin bill. Game one saw Kamaron Strickland outduel Missy Duke to pick up the 1-0 victory. Strickland twirled a 3-hit shutout for Mobile, striking out 3 and walking a pair. Duke gave up 1 run on 9 hits in 6 innings of work.

The tournament is being played at the Par-72, 6,947-yard LPGA International Legends Course. The final 18 holes will take place Tuesday. UMobile carded a collective 642 (313, 329) on day one, while SCAD Savannah sits in 1st after shooting a 590 (295, 295).

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile has announced that women’s basketball Head Coach Michael Berry has resigned his post at the school to pursue other interests. A nationwide search for a new coach will begin immediately. After taking over as the head man during the 2007-08 season, Berry compiled a 67-68 mark with the Lady Rams. Prior to becoming head coach, Berry spent four years as an assistant with the Lady Rams and helped the team to an 86-41 record and two NAIA National Tournament appearances.
