Four Lady Rams Earn Academic Honors

DECATUR, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's soccer team had four players named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Friday.

Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order to qualify for the honor.

The honorees for Mobile are Christy Lachappelle, Olivia Maddox, Kelsie Ruff and Elisabeth Davis. The NAIA honored 485 women's soccer student-athletes overall.

The Lady Rams went 19-4-1 on the season and advanced to the Round of Eight at the 2011 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championships.

Lachappelle finished the season with 19 goals and 14 assists, while Maddox saw action in all 24 games in the midfield. Ruff and Davis chipped in on a defense that pitched 11 shutouts on the season and allowed only 24 goals in 24 games.
