MOBILE, Ala-- Alice Honnery's triple-double led Mobile to an 86-63 victory over Brenau University in SSAC women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Pharr Gym.
Mobile (3-6, 2-2) will next host Concordia-Selma Dec. 9 at 5:30 pm.
Honnery recorded a career best performance in points and rebounds, and finished with 34 points, 23 boards, 11 blocks and 4 assists while shooting 14-of-20 from the floor.
Briana Edwards added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Mobile, while Allison Michael finished with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting for the Lady Rams.
Nikki Reed tallied 20 points for Brenau.
Mobile out shot the Lady Tigers 50% to 34% from the field and held a 49-39 edge on the glass. Brenau hit 7-of-12 from 3-point range, compared to 3-of-11 for Mobile.
Honnery scored first, 56 seconds into the game, and Mobile never trailed. The score was tied only once at 2-2, but Lauren Bethly scored a bucket to make it 4-2, and Mobile held the lead the rest of the way. Clinging to a 26-21 lead in the opening half, the Lady Rams used a 13-2 run to pull away for a 16-point advantage as Honnery and Edwards combined to do much of the damage inside.
Brenau pulled within 39-43 26 seconds into the final half, but the Lady Rams answered with a 6-0 spurt to reclaim a double-digit advantage. Brenau pulled back within 9 at 53-44, but the Lady Rams answered with another 14-3 run to claim a 20-point lead with 9:03 left on a free throw from Danielle Dixon. The final margin of 23 was the largest lead of the game.
