MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 45-62 at Xavier University-Louisiana in non-conference action Tuesday evening.
Mobile (3-5, 1-3) will host Concordia College-Selma Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 pm.
Nobody scored in double figures for the Rams, who were led by Brock Dockery's 9 points and 6 rebounds. Next was 8 points from Antonio Hester.
Cordell Hadnot led Xavier with 10 points, while Denzell Erves added 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Mobile fell behind 34-18 after the opening half, which saw the Rams shoot only 32% from the floor, compared to 42% for Xavier. The Gold Nuggets also went 9-for-13 from the charity stripe in the half, compared to 1-for-2 for Mobile.
For the game, Mobile shot 38%, while Xavier shot 45%. The teams combined for only nine 3-pointers. Mobile finished 11-of-19 from the free throw line, while Xavier finished 13-of-17.
Dockery scored first in the game for Mobile to give the Rams a 3-0 lead with 18:18 remaining, but Xavier took the lead for good just 5:09 later when a Kevin Miller bucket made it 8-7 in favor of the home team. That was part of a 19-2 Xavier run that saw them turn a 7-4 deficit into a 23-9 lead in a span of 8:41.
It was not until Marcus Polnett hit a 3-pointer with 6:10 remaining to make it 23-12 that Mobile broke double figures in the opening half.
