Lady Rams Fall By 9 In Non-Conference Game

BETHANY, Okla-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 58-67 to Science & Arts (Okla.) Thursday in road action.

Mobile (3-9) visits Southern Wesleyan Friday, Jan. 6 at 5:30 pm for a SSAC contest.

Briana Edwards led Mobile with 13 points, Courtney Bayliss added 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range and Alice Honnery finished with 11 points, 10 boards and 6 blocks to lead Mobile.

Paige Pulliam led USAO with 25 points on 10-of-10 shooting from the charity stripe, while Tashina Ototivo pulled down 15 rebounds.

Both teams finished with over 20 turnovers, while USAO out shot Mobile 33% to 31% from the floor and 90% to 52% from the charity stripe. Mobile finished with a 46% to 29% edge from 3-point range. USAO finished with a 53-38 edge in rebounds and a 15-10 edge in offensive boards. In the second half, Mobile went only 8-of-18 from the free throw line.

The opening half was close throughout, with the biggest lead being a five-point lead by Mobile with 10:10 remaining on a bucket from Daphnee Frieson. But, USAO scored the next eight points to retake the lead on a pair of free throws. As the teams continued to trade leads, USAO took a 34-33 lead into the break thanks to four free throws from Pulliam in the final minute.

In the second half, Mobile never saw the lead. Up only two with 15:23 left in the half, USAO went on a 12-2 run over the next 2:50 to take a commanding 12-point lead. The closest Mobile got the rest of the way was five points, but USAO answered that with a mini 5-0 spurt.
