MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team used a strong inside game to take down NCAA-II University of New Orleans 63-41 Tuesday at Pharr Gym.
Post player Alice Honnery led the Lady Rams with 16 points, 21 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks, while fellow post player Daphnee Frieson chipped in 14 points and 10 boards. Forward Briana Edwards tallied 13 points off the bench.
Kayla Chaney was the only Lady Privateer in double figures with 11 points on 5-of-16 shooting, while Tiffany Wallace had 16 rebounds.
Mobile out shot UNO 47% to 22% and out rebounded them 51-37.
The Lady Rams scored the game's first 16 points and held the Lady Privateers off the board until Chaney finally scored after 8:38 had run off the clock. Mobile continued to dominate, pushing the lead to 26-5, and holding UNO to single digits until they finally reached 10 points with 5:18 left in the half. Mobile took a 33-18 into the break.
The closest that the Lady Privateers came to cutting the lead to single digits in the second half was getting within 12 at 28-40, but Mobile quickly pushed it back to a 20-point advantage.
