ROME, Ga-- The 18th-ranked University of Mobile softball team defeated 7th-ranked Bethel College (Ind.) 5-3 and Tennessee Wesleyan 8-0 in a run-rule shortened six-inning game behind Victoria Buie's perfect game to cap the Shorter College Invitational Saturday.

Mobile (5-5) hosts Notre Dame College at 12 and Dillard at 5 Thursday, March 4 for a pair of doubleheaders.

Leslie Pickette picked up the win over Bethel, striking out eight and allowing only three hits in a complete-game effort. Desiree Truett finished 2-4 with 2 RBI, Kirstyn Joiner went 3-4, Erica Bracey finished 1-3 with 2RBI and Jessica Swanson went 2-4.

Bethel led early 1-0, and both pitchers put 0's on the board until the 5th inning when the Mobile bats woke up. Swanson led the inning off with a double, Ally Scott walked, and two batters later, Korie Fontenot drew a walk to load the bases. A Holli McLeod groundout tied the game, Truett followed with a 2-run double, and two batters later Bracey provided the winning tallies with 2-run single.

Against Tennessee Wesleyan, Victoria Buie twirled a perfect game, going the full 6 innings while striking out 14 hitters. At the plate, the Lady Rams put up three-spots in the 3rd and 5th innings before finishing off the game via the run-rule with two in the 6th.

In the 3rd inning, the Lady Rams used three bunt singles to load the bases and start the scoring. Bracey provided the winning tally with a sac fly and then Mobile capitalized on errors and passed balls the rest of the way to add to the scoring. Truett finished 1-2 with a pair of walks and Joiner finished 1-3 with 1 RBI.
