No. 21 Wolfpack Take Down Lady Rams 82-57

MOBILE, Ala-- The 21st-ranked Loyola University Wolfpack upended the University of Mobile Lady Rams 82-57 in Southern States Athletic Conference action Thursday evening at Pharr Gym.

Mobile (6-15, 4-8) hosts William Carey University Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2 pm.

Alice Honnery paced Mobile with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists, Briana Edwards added 11 points, and Daphnee Frieson and Lauren Bethly each chipped in 10 points for Mobile.

Jasmine Brewer tallied 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting to pace Loyola, while the NAIA's 3rd-leading scorer Keiva Council finished with 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting.

Loyola out shot Mobile 49% to 47% from the floor and held a 65% (11-of-17) to 13% (1-of-8) edge from the charity stripe. The Wolfpack forced 25 UMobile turnovers and only turned the ball over nine times themselves.

In the opening half, Mobile used a 14-4 run to turn a four-point deficit into a 21-15 lead with 11:05 remaining, with Edwards tallying six points in the surge. The Lady Rams then kept the lead until Loyola used a 12-0 run to close the half to take a 40-32 lead into the break, as Janeicia Neely drained a 3-ball at the buzzer.

The Wolfpack then led the whole way in the final period. UMobile pulled within 42-44 4:21 into the period, but the Wolfpack answered with a 9-1 run, capped by a three-point play from Brewer to claim their first double-digit lead of the contest. With the score sitting at 60-53 in favor of the Wolfpack with 7:52 remaining, Loyola went on a 20-0 run over the next 6:41 to put the game away.
