MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 18th-ranked University of Mobile softball team finished the Faulkner University Invitational by dropping a pair of games versus NAIA Top-25 teams Saturday.
Mobile fell to 12th-ranked Shorter College 3-2 to open the day and then dropped an 8-1 decision to 22nd-ranked Auburn University-Montgomery to cap the tournament.
Shorter knocked off Mobile by tallying 3 runs in the 6th inning.
Mobile (2-4) travels to Rome, Ga. this Friday-Saturday for the Shorter College Invitational.
Friday: Lady Rams Fall To Reinhardt and Lee
MOBILE, Ala-- The 18th-ranked University of Mobile softball team dropped a pair of games on the first day of the Faulkner University Invitational Friday in Montgomery.
Mobile fell 0-1 to Reinhardt to start the day and then dropped a 2-4 contest to Lee University.
In the finale, Caitlin Beshears picked up the win for Lee with 7 innings of 8-hit, 2-run ball. Victoria Buie took the loss for mobile after allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits in 2.1 innings of work. Kamaron Strickland threw 3.2 innings of 2-hit shutout relief, but the Mobile offense could not rebound from the early hole after Lee scored one in the 2nd and three in the 3rd.
Holli McLeod led Mobile with a 2-4 afternoon, while Ally Scott finished 1-1 with 1 RBI. Danielle Balough went 1-3 with 2 RBI for Lee, while Johana Gomez added a pair of doubles and 1 RBI.
Mobile (2-2) battles Shorter College at 1 pm and Auburn-Montgomery at 3 pm Saturday to finish out the tournament.
