Baldwin Named GCAC Freshman Of The Year

MOBILE, Ala.-- Freshman outside hitter Syretta Baldwin was named GCAC Freshman of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference selection announced Friday by GCAC officials. 

Baldwin, a native of Montgomery, Ala., recorded 279 kills (.323 average), 212 digs and 50 blocks (15 solo, 35 assists) in 69 games.
 
"Syretta was our 'go to' player this year," said head coach Jon Campbell.  "This is a great honor for her and our first-year program.  We are very proud of her."
 
Freshmen outside hitter Lauren Gihvan, setter Jill Campbell and libero Kelly Ladnier were all named as Honorable Mention recipients.  Gihvan, a native of Theodore, Ala., posted 126 kills and 221 digs this season.  Campbell, also from Theodore, set 419 assists, while Ladnier, a native of Daphne, Ala., added 313 digs this season.

The Rams finished the season with a record of 7-13, 0-4 (GCAC).
