TALLADEGA, Ala-- The 22nd-ranked University of Mobile softball team opened the 2012 season by sweeping a doubleheader from Talladega College with 9-0 and 10-0 run-rule victories in 5 innings.
Mobile (2-0) will host Talladega Feb. 23 at 2 pm for a twin bill.
Kamaron Strickland went the distance in the opener and twirled a perfect game will fanning four hitters. Korie Fontenot finished with a homerun as the Lady Rams tallied 9 runs.
Game two's 10-0 victory was highlighted by a homer from Hannah Beth Baker and a grand slam from Kaci Pribanic. Emily Vickrey worked behind the plate and finished 2-for-2 with a double and a triple.
Alli Hall worked 3 perfect innings in the circle to start the game, with 6 strikeouts, while Brittney Kerr mopped up in relief.
