MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team shot 55% from the floor to take down the rival Badgers of Spring Hill 83-75 Saturday at Pharr Gym.
Mobile (13-14, 9-7) hosts Faulkner Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 pm.
Ji Kimbrough led the Rams and all scorers with 29 points after going 14-of-15 from the charity stripe, while Brock Dockery finished with 15 and Christian Salinas tallied 10 off the bench.
Alex Looney led the Badgers with 22 points after going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
The Rams shot 55% from the floor and the Badgers shot 53%, but fell to 39% in the second half after a blistering 64% shooting effort in the opening 20 minutes. Mobile knocked down 11-of-26 from 3-point range compared to 6-of-12 for Spring Hill.
The Badgers scored first in the game, but Mobile took the lead back on a Brock Dockery 3-pointer 1:05 into play and never trailed from there. Spring Hill did pull within 22-21 with 9:43 to play, but the Rams scored the 10 of the next 12 to go back up by nine. The Rams led by as many as 13 in the half and went into the break with a 45-36 lead.
The second half was much the same, as the Rams led all the way, with the biggest lead being 15. The Badgers pulled within 78-73 with 1:41 to play, but missed their next two shots as the Rams pulled back away.
