No. 3 Lee Flames Sweep Twin Bill From Rams

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team dropped a conference doubleheader to 3rd-ranked Lee University Saturday, falling 3-0 in the 7-inning opener and being run-ruled 12-1 in the 7-inning finale.

Mobile (3-9, 1-4) will host Lee (15-2, 5-0) for the final game of the series Sunday at 1 pm.

Michael King was the tough-luck loser in the opener, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings of work, while Patrick Merkling picked up the win for Lee with 7 innings of 2-hit, shutout ball.

Brady Renner and Trevor Burgess each went 2-for-3 at the dish for the Flames.

Lee got single tallies in the 3rd-5th innings to get the win. A 2-out RBI-single from Renner started the scoring in the 3rd, and Renner scored on a RBI-groundout in the 5th to cap the scoring.

In game two, the Flames' bats pounded four University of Mobile pitchers for 12 runs on 12 hits, while Kris Hall went the distance to grab the win, striking out 6.

Josh Blaylock went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mobile, while Blake Barber and Roberto Reyes each homered and drove in 3 runs for the Flames from the 3rd and 4th spots in the lineup. Taylor Comford added 3 RBI out of the 9-hole.

The bulk of the scoring came in the form of a 9-run 4th inning for the Flames, where nine-straight batters reached before an out was recorded. Barber jacked a 3-run homer and Comford added a 2-out, 2-run single.
