NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team went 1-1 in a pair of Gulf Coast Athletic Conference matches Saturday.

 

Mobile fell 2-7 to Xavier and then beat Loyola 5-2 to cap the day. The Lady Rams (9-3, 5-3) host Spring Hill Wednesday at 3 pm.

 

In doubles, Xavier grabbed wins at the No. 1 and 3 spots, while Claudia Borges - Nancy Machen won 8-5 for Mobile at No. 2 doubles.

 

Xavier picked up closely-contested wins at No. 1, 2 and 6 singles, while Rachel Hartley grabbed the only singles win for the Lady Rams 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.

 

Against Loyola, the Lady Rams grabbed wins at the top two doubles spots, including a 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles from Zelie Pfeiffer and Hartley. Mobile then cruised through the top three singles matches to clinch the match, winning 36 of 40 games.
