UM Women Defeat NCAA III Foe

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile women's tennis team downed NCAA III Millsaps College 6-3 Monday afternoon.

 

The Lady Rams led 2-1 after doubles play after the teams of Zelie Pfeiffer-Rachel Hartley and Claudia Borges-Nancy Machen picked up 8-2 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.
 
Then, Borges, Pfeiffer and Hartley breezed through the top three singles spots to clinch the five points necessary for a victory. The won 36 of the 42 games combined in the singles matches. Nancy Machen rallied for a nice win at No. 5 singles, 4-6, 7-5 (10-4) to give Mobile the 6-3 margin.
 
The Lady Rams (8-2, 4-2) visit Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe Xavier March 20 at 9 am.
