Baseball Sweeps SSAC Series From Wolfpack

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team finished off a series-sweep of SSAC foe Loyola by taking Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 11-2 and 4-0.

Mobile (14-13, 8-7) visits Talladega for a 1 pm twin bill Tuesday, March 20.

In the seven-inning opener, the Rams offense produced 11 runs on 12 hits and 9 walks to back Ryan Hines. Hines worked 5 innings of 1-run, 4-hit ball, while striking out 6 hitters. Mobile chased George Smith in the 3rd after the Loyola Starter had given up 6 runs on 6 hits in 2.1 innings of work.

Ryne Phillips finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, 3 runs scored and a 3-run homer, Parker Hollinghead and Justin Beck each finished with 2 hits and 2 RBI and Cameron White finished 1-for-2 with 2 runs and 2 RBI.

The Rams' offense scored in every inning but the 6th. Loyola actually struck first when Brandon Snow led off the game with a solo shot, but in the bottom half of the frame, Phillips dropped his 3-run bomb over the centerfield fence.

Mobile put the game away with a 4-run 4th inning as four walks aided the effort. White and Jacob Knowles drew bases loaded walks and Hollinghead and Justin Beck produced RBI-singles in the inning.

Game two saw Blake Hanson shut the Wolfpack hitters down through 7 innings shutout innings. He allowed only 3 hits and struck out 6. Matthew Guerry took the loss after giving up 4 runs on 8 hits in 8 innings of mound work.

Phillips and Ryan Waltman each finished with a pair of hits for the Rams and Josh Blaylock scored a pair of runs from the top of the order.

The Rams struck first with single tallies in the 1st and 2nd and held on from there. In the 1st, Blaylock singled, stole 2nd and scored on Phillips' base hit to right. Ryan Parazine led off the 2nd with a double and later scored on Hollinghead's infield single.
