No. 23 Lady Rams Sweep DH From Rival Badgers

MOBILE, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile Lady Rams swept rival Spring Hill by scores of 2-1 and 3-2 in SSAC softball action Monday.

Mobile (28-10, 10-7) visits 19th-ranked Auburn University-Montgomery April 20 at 4 pm for a twin bill.

Game one saw Mobile's Kamaron Strickland and Spring Hill's Linsey Dickerson put up 0's through five innings before the Lady Rams pushed across two runs in the 6th.

Jessica Rogers was hit by a pitch with two outs to start the rally and Milagros Lozada followed with a double to put runners at 2nd and 3rd.

Korie Fontenot singled home the first run of the game, and then a Badger error pushed across the eventual game-winner.

The Badgers scored one in the 7th on an Elise DeBruler RBI-double, but Strickland got Katelyn Hinson to pop out to end the threat.

Strickland limited Spring Hill to one run on three hits in the complete-game effort. She fanned two and walked none. Dickerson gave up one earned run on six hits in seven innings of action.

Brittany Dunson led the Lady Rams with a 3-for-4 effort at the dish, while Fontenot finished 1-for-3 with one RBI.

In the finale, both teams scored early, and Morgan Pence came on and pitched 5.1 innings of one-hit shutout relief for the Lady Rams to pick up the victory.

Mobile opened the scoring with back-to-back two-out RBI-singles from Brittany Dunson and Hannah Beth Baker in the top of the 2nd, but the Badgers answered right back.

The Badgers used three walks, a hit batsman and catcher's interference to plate a pair, but Pence came on in relief with the bases juiced and two outs and induced a fly out to end the threat.

The Lady Rams then scored the game-winner in the 3rd without a hit. A hit batsman, walk and error loaded the bags with one out, and then a wild pitch scored Emily Vickrey for the eventual game-winning run.

Dunson and Baker each finished with two hits and one RBI for Mobile, while Jessica Palmer finished 1-for-2 with one run scored.
