MOBILE, Ala-- The Southern States Athletic Conference released the women's tennis year-end awards, and the University of Mobile had several student-athletes honored.
Stephanie Tomita, a sophomore from Brazil, was named the SSAC Women's Tennis Newcomer of the Year. Tomita went 4-6 in singles action, while playing at No. 1 singles for the majority of the year, and finished 7-4 at No. 1 doubles along with Marcela Abrantes.
Treya Smith, a sophomore from Maui, Hawaii, was the team's Musco Lighting Champion of Character recipient. Smith, Tomita, Tracy Cullum, Noelle Dew and Cynthia Summersgill were all named to the All-Academic squad.
Cullum is a sophomore from Mobile, Dew is a sophomore from Saraland and Summersgill is a sophomore from Saraland.
