MOBILE, Ala-- The 2012 Junior Varsity Volleyball Program is enthusiastic about the addition of six players for the upcoming season. They will join the returning seven from the 2011 season to build the team to its highest level to date.
Leah Lovelace was the first commitment to the 2012 team. A versatile player from Florida, she has the ability to play six rotations, swinging from the left side in the front row. Though she is only 5’8, she has a solid vertical, hard arm swing, and impressive jump serve.
Kirsten Sayers is a State Champion setter from Mobile, Alabama. She led her team during their 2010 campaign to a 5A Alabama State Championship. Kirsten has explosive quickness and the ability to change directions on a dime. She will provide energy and leadership right out of the gate.
Danielle Willis is a 5’6 outside hitter from Pascagoula, Mississippi. Explosive and scrappy, Danielle has the ability to be a six rotation player. Her vertical is surprising for her height, and her positive attitude will make an immediate impact.
Rachel Lucus hails from Seattle, Washington. A 6’0 middle blocker, her presence will make an immediate difference for the team. As a coachable player, her improvement will be quick as she works to learn the new system.
Alexia Washington, 5’6 defensive specialist, joins the team from Citronelle, Alabama. She is a quick defender that reacts well to the play. Alexia brings a great attitude and does anything she can to make the team better.
Meagan Brown, a 5’4 setter and defensive player, is coming off of a minor knee surgery. She expects to make a full recovery, but impressed coaches and teammates even at 50%. Her work ethic and coach-ability are second to none, and her natural leadership will be a great addition.
