MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Faulkner University Tuesday.
The Rams won the opener 13-11, and then Faulkner rebounded for the split with a 6-2 decision in game two. Faulkner moves to 20-11, while Mobile (11-21, 4-14) hosts GCAC foe Tougaloo College for a four-game series this weekend, beginning with a 1 pm twinbill Friday.
Mobile used the long ball to ignite a 10-run 4th inning to win the opener. Dustin Lee had a grand slam, Brad Sheffield and Cody Sanderson added solo homers and Travis Williamson jacked a 2-run shot in the frame.
The Rams were out hit 15-14 in the game, but made the 11-2 lead after four innings hold up, despite Faulkner scoring seven in the 6th.
In the final game, the Rams took a 2-0 lead in the 1st, but Faulkner used a 5-run 2nd to take the 6-2 win. A three-run error by the Rams' defense helped ignite the Faulkner rally.
