Lady Rams Drop SSAC Match To Blazers, 1-3


MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell at home to SSAC foe Belhaven University 1-3 (13-25, 24-26, 26-24, 20-25).

Mobile (12-5, 2-2) visits Tougaloo College Tuesday at 7 pm in non-conference action.

Kiara Gay led Mobile with 16 kills and 16 digs, while Bailey Nations finished with 12 kills and Disah Kolassiba added 10 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Cayce May added 14 digs, Leah Lovelace added 13 and Nicole Armstrong added 10. Reagin Boggs led with 39 assists.

Belhaven out hit Mobile .277 to .174 and finished with five fewer service errors.

The opening set was all Belhaven as the Blazers out hit the Lady Rams .571 to -.034.

In the second set, Mobile surged ahead 9-3 and led 17-12 before Belhaven went on an 8-0 run. Mobile fought back to take a 24-23 lead with a 3-0 run, but the Lady Blazers took the final three points, with Natalie Davis getting two kills.

The third set saw teams trade runs back-and-forth, as Mobile used a 4-0 run to turn a 20-18 deficit into a 22-20 lead. Belhaven battled back this time to make it 24-24, but Mobile took the final two points, with a Gay kill and Belhaven attack error giving the set to Mobile.

Mobile was tied up at 11-11 in the final set, but the Blazers used a 7-0 run to take control. A pair of aces highlighted the run.
