MOBILE, Ala-- The 5th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team rolled past visiting Truett-McConnell by a 5-1 score Saturday in Southern States Athletic Conference action.
Mobile (7-3-1, 3-1) will host 13th-ranked Auburn-Montgomery Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 5 pm.
The Lady Rams out shot Truett-McConnell 19-5 and tallied four goals in the final period to pick up the win.
The lone 1st half goal came in the 27th minute, when Monique Martinez took a shot from straight-away, and the ball skipped past the goalkeeper.
Christy Lachappelle started the 2nd half with a goal just 27 seconds in, when she received a feed on the far side of the 18-yard box from Brianna Simmons and Martinez, and finished for a 2-0 lead.
In the 53rd minute, Jesslyn Fagundes received a pass from Martinez, made a defender miss, and found the back of the net. After a Truett-McConnell goal just 30 seconds after Fagundes' tally, Mobile added two more to close out the game.
Fagundes scored again in the 71st minute, when she posted up right in front of the goal and knocked home a cross from Simmons. The final tally of the game came in the 83rd minute, when Bethan Morgans headed home a free kick from Rebekah Spalding.
