MOBILE, Ala-- The 5th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team took down visiting 12th-ranked Auburn-Montgomery in Southern States Athletic Conference action Wednesday.
Mobile (8-3-1, 4-1) will host Faulkner University Saturday at 5 pm.
Early, neither team could do much offensively, but in the 29th minute, a trio of Lady Rams teamed up to provide all the scoring the team would need.
Jesslyn Fagundes fed Christy Lachappelle in the corner, and Lachappelle crossed the ball, with Monique Martinez charging in and heading the ball home inside the near post.
The Warhawks out shot Mobile 12-7, but only three of those were on frame, and UMobile goalkeeper Gillian McMahon saved all three for the shutout victory.
Many of those 12 AUM shots were from distance, and the best chance came in the 73rd minute when Dagmar Gunnarsdottir took a rip from about 25 yards out and hit the crossbar.
