
MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 15-13) win over SSAC foe Brenau University Saturday, and Kiara Gay joined the 30-Kill Club with 30 kills in the match.
Mobile (16-7, 5-4) visits Dillard and SUNO Wednesday at 3 and 6.
Gay put down 30 kills, while hitting .362 and leading the team with 18 digs, Bailey Nations finished with 15 kills and hit .303 and Sara Van Wert added 10 kills.
Reagin Boggs led the way with 62 assists and 6 aces, while Nicole Armstrong added 17 digs, Courtney Fenwick finished with 16 digs and Cayce May added 13 digs.
Mobile out hit Brenau .282 to .215 and finished with a 9-3 edge in service aces.
After dropping the first set, the Lady Rams used a 5-0 run early in the second set to take the lead for good, with Boggs serving up a pair of aces in the run. Brenau pulled within 11-10, but Mobile took four of the next five points to hold them off.
Mobile then had a 22-16 lead in the third set, but Brenau scored nine of the final ten points. Danelle Russell and Sydney Koon each had three kills in the run for Brenau.
The fourth set was back-and-forth until the teams traded 3-0 runs that put the Golden Tigers ahead 23-22. A Van Wert kill halted the Brenau run, and Nations finished it off with back-to-back kills.
In the final set, neither team led by more than one point until a 4-0 spurt from the Lady Rams turned an 8-7 deficit into an 11-8 lead. Nations had two kills in the run. Brenau fought back to tie it at 12-12, but the Lady Rams took three of the final four points, with Gay putting down two kills in the stretch.
