Peacock Pitches Rams To Win At Loyola

 

WESTWEGO, La-- The University of Mobile baseball team defeated Loyola University-New Orleans 3-1 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference series opener Friday evening.
 
Mobile (16-22, 9-14) and Loyola (9-18, 7-15) will finish the three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 pm.
 
The Rams got a standout pitching performance from Chris Peacock and put pressure on the Wolfpack pitchers with 11 hits.
 
Peacock picked up the victory by striking out 8 batters and allowing only 4 hits, with no earned runs in 8 innings of action. Jeff Lyons picked up the save with 1 scoreless inning of relief.
 
Michael Tedesco went 2-3 with 2 RBI from the DH spot for Mobile, while Justin Beck and Cody Sanderson finished with 2 hits apiece. David McChesney went 2-4 at the plate to lead the Wolfpack offense.
 
Mobile struck right away with a tally on the 1st inning after Brad Sheffield reached on an error with two outs. He swiped 2nd and then crossed home on a RBI-double from Hunter Norris.
 
In the 4th, the Rams sent 6 hitters to the plate and took a 2-0 lead on Tedesco's RBI-single. Tedesco added another RBI-single in the 8th inning and the Wolfpack got an unearned run in the bottom of the 9th, but could not get anymore against Lyons.
