KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The University of Mobile's Gaetan Massiah has been named NAIA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 15-21, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Massiah and the 18th-ranked Rams played only one game on the week, but that was all he needed to make a big impression.
The freshman midfielder scored a hat trick to lead the Rams to a 3-1 win over 6th-ranked Belhaven University on Oct. 20.
Belhaven led 1-0 at the half, but the second half was all Massiah and Mobile.
The Bordeaux, France native knotted the game at 1-1 on an unassisted score in the 54th minute, and then volleyed home a cross from Gunnar Steindorsson in the 61st minute to account for the game-winner.
That duo hooked up again in the 70th minute to put the game away.
Massiah, who has 11 goals and 8 assists to lead the team with 30 points, joins Naissim Ayadi as Rams to win the award this season.
