5th-Seeded Lady Rams Fall 1-0 In Round of 16

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The 5th-seeded University of Mobile women's soccer team fell to 12th-seeded Olivet Nazarene 1-0 in the Round of 16 at the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship.

Mobile finishes the season at 15-4-2, while Olivet (18-3-0) advances to face UT-Brownsville in the Quarterfinals Wednesday at 6:30 pm.

Jesslyn Fagundes got a couple of chances inside the 18-yard box early, but Olivet goalkeeper Wendy Espejel made the stops. Then, in the 23rd minute, Jessica Higer received a through ball from Jordan Wallek, and beat Gillian McMahon one-on-one for the game's lone goal.

In the final half, the Lady Rams could not put a shot on frame. The team's lone chance came in the 83rd minute when Kelsie Ruff sent a rocket off the crossbar.

McMahon made four saves for Mobile, while Espejel finished with five for Olivet. Mobile out shot Olivet 14-10 in the game and finished with an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
