FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 52-60 at SSAC foe Emmanuel College Saturday afternoon.
Mobile (4-6, 2-2) will host Concordia-Selma Saturday, Dec. 8 at 5 pm.
Briana Edwards led Mobile with 19 points and 6 rebounds, while Shontae Dillon finished with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
Joreshica Martin led a pair of Lady Lions in double figures with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting.
Emmanuel out shot Mobile 42% (20-48) to 33% (19-58) from the floor and finished with a 36-25 edge on the boards. The Lady Lions also finished with a 58% (18-31) to 52% (13-25) edge from the charity stripe.
The Lady Rams started out cold and fell behind 10-0 in the first 2:50, and Mobile did not get on the board until Dillon scored 3:30 into the contest. From there, Emmanuel continued the hot start and went on another 10-2 run to make it 20-4 with 11:35 to go in the half. Down 25-15 with 5:39 to play, the Lady Rams made an 8-0 run to pull within two, but the Lady Lions took a 29-24 lead into the break.
Emmanuel scored first in the final half to go ahead 31-24, but Mobile answered with a 9-1 run over the next 3:07 to grab their first lead of the game when Edwards converted a three-point play. But, the Lady Lions scored the next four points and never relinquished the lead. The Lady Rams closed back within one at 40-39 with 8:45 to play on a bucket from Lauren Bethly, but the Lady Lions again answered with an 8-0 run, capped by a pair of free throws. From there, Mobile could not get back within striking distance.
