Men's Basketball Falls At Montana Tech

BUTTE, Montana-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 57-64 on the road at Montana Tech Sunday evening in non-conference action.

Mobile (6-5, 1-3) will host Tennessee Temple Thursday at 7:30 pm.

Chris Richardson led a trio of Rams in double figures with 11 points, while Cole Fountain added 10 points and 10 boards and Kwame Beard finished with 10 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.

Adam Greger led a pair of Orediggers in double figures with 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting.

Montana Tech out shot Mobile 46% to 39% from the floor, 40% to 29% from 3-point range and 57% to 33% from the free throw line. The Orediggers were 12-of-21 from the charity stripe, compared to 2-of-6 for Mobile.

Richardson scored the first bucket of the game 28 seconds in, but the Orediggers' Bryan Brock answered with a three-pointer at the 18:43 mark, and Mobile never reclaimed the lead. Montana Tech scored 12 more unanswered after the three-ball to build a 15-2 lead, before Cody Scott stopped the bleeding with a score 6:39 into the half. The Rams continued to struggle, falling behind 28-6 with 7:57 to go, before answering with a 20-5 run over the next 7:03 to cut the deficit to 33-26. Beard had seven points in the run, while Richardson chipped in a pair of three-pointers. Mobile went into the break trailing 37-26.

Six early points from Fountain brought the score to 33-39 with 14:48 to play in the game, but Montana Tech answered with a 7-0 spurt to regain a 13-point lead. Trailing 13 with 36 ticks left, the Rams were able to cut it to six with 16 seconds to play, but it was too little too late.
