Lady Rams Pick Up 73-65 Home Win

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile led the entire game and defeated visiting Tennessee Temple University 73-65 in non-conference action Thursday evening at Pharr Gym.

Mobile (7-6) will visit Alabama State University Saturday at 1 pm for an exhibition contest.

Deonica McCormick led the Lady Rams with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists, Briana Edwards chipped in 10 points and 7 boards and Leana Tajkov chipped in 6 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.

Lynncoya Gardner led the Lady Crusaders with 22 points, while Amber Charles had 6 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists.

The big advantage for the Lady Rams came in the form of a 62-43 edge in rebounding and a 22-10 edge in offensive boards. Mobile shot 38% from the floor, compared to 36% for the visitors.

Mobile scored six-straight with buckets from three different players in the first minute of play and never looked back. The Crusaders kept it close, trailing 21-18 with 8:48 to play in the period, but Mobile went on an 8-0 run over the next 2:13, capped by a McCormick bucket to make it 29-18 Lady Rams. Mobile took a 37-28 advantage into the half.

The Lady Rams picked up right where they left off to start the second frame, opening with a 13-3 run, started by a 3-ball from Molly Speed. From there, Mobile led by as many as 20, before the Lady Crusaders cut it to eight in the final moments.
