MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team bounced back with a 69-39 win over visiting Truett-McConnell College in Southern States Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Mobile (8-7, 3-3) visits Faulkner University Thursday, Jan. 10 at 5:30 pm.
Christy Roewe led Mobile with 16 points and 8 boards on 8-of-13 shooting, Deonica McCormick added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Briana Edwards chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
The Bears did not have anyone tally more than 8 points in the game.
Mobile out shot the visitors 41% to 31% from the floor and 71% to 46% from the free throw line. Mobile also finished with a 49-30 edge in rebounding, including a 19-8 edge on the offensive glass, and the Lady Rams forced 23 turnovers.
Truett-McConnell never led in the game, and after the teams traded buckets to start the contest, Mobile went on a 15-2 run to take command. Shontae Dillon tallied the final six points of the surge. The Bears worked to get the deficit down to six at the 11:13 mark, but Mobile again went on a 10-2 run over the next 5:54 to take a 29-15 lead. Five different players contributed buckets for the Lady Rams in the run. Mobile took a 15-point lead into the break.
In the final half, Mobile never led by fewer than 12 points, and led by as many as 30.
