Lady Rams Fall To 25th-Ranked Warhawks

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 61-72 to 25th-ranked Auburn-Montgomery Thursday evening in Southern States Athletic Conference action.

Mobile (11-9, 6-5) Xavier University Monday at 5:30 in a non-conference battle.

Courtney Bayliss led the Lady Rams with 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting from 3-point range, while Deonica McCormick added 16 points and 5 steals and Shontae Dillon added 13 points and 7 boards.

Katie Williams led the Warhawks with 18 points, while Tina Odume added 17 points and 15 boards.

AUM out shot Mobile 50% to 36% from the floor and out-rebounded Mobile 45-28.

The Warhawks opened the game on a 7-0 spurt and never relinquished the lead. With the Lady Rams trailing 21-12 with 12:15 to play, AUM went on a 10-2 run to grab a 17-point lead with 10:05 to go and led by double digits for the rest of the half. Mobile went into the break trailing 37-26.

UMobile tried to make a run in the final half, opening with a 9-2 run to pull within 39-35 with 17:54 still to play. A pair of 3-ball's from Bayliss started the run. But, after Mobile cut it to four, the Warhawks iced the game with a 13-0 run over the next 5:06. Mobile went 0-for-5 from the floor and 0-for-2 from the charity stripe in that time. From there, AUM led by as much as 20 and never less than nine.
