Rams Fall To 16th-Ranked Faulkner University

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 55-69 to 16th-ranked Faulkner University in Southern States Athletic Conference action Saturday.
Mobile (12-10, 6-7) hosts Trinity Baptist Monday at 7:30 pm in non-conference action.
Brandon Morris was the lone Ram in double figures with 23 points and 7 boards off the bench, while Julien Sargent added 8 points for Mobile.
Lante Phillips led Faulkner with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
Faulkner out shot Mobile 50% to 39% from the floor, 43% to 25% from 3-point range and 74% to 46% from the charity stripe. The Eagles also held a 36-22 advantage on the boards.
The teams traded buckets through the first part of the opening half to a 14-14 tie with 10:50 remaining, before the Eagles scored six straight to take a 20-14 lead thanks to four straight points from Jake Mitchell. After four points from Brandon Morris brought the Rams within 23-22 with 5:18 left, the Eagles answered with a 15-4 run to close out the half and take a 38-26 lead into the break.
The second half was all Faulkner. The closest Mobile got, was 33-40 with 16:08 left, but the Eagles answered with a 6-0 spurt to regain a double-digit lead.
