MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team opened the 2013 season with an 8-1 victory over visiting Emmanuel College in Southern States Athletic Conference action Friday evening.

Mobile (1-0, 1-0) hosts Loyola University Saturday at 9:30 am.

The Lady Rams started the match by taking a 2-1 lead in doubles play with Aggy Rozite and Stephanie Tomita teaming up for an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot and Marianna Velozo and Cynthia Summersgill teaming up for an 8-0 win at No. 3.

Aside from 6-0, 6-0 victories by Rozite and Susan Berner in singles, the Lady Rams pulled out some hard-fought victories highlighted by three-set wins from Treya Smith and Velozo.
