Rams Split Doubleheader At Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team split a doubleheader at Talladega College Saturday in non-conference action. Mobile won the opener 8-3, while the Tornadoes took the finale 2-0.

Mobile (5-2) hosts Tougaloo Tuesday, Feb. 12 for a 12 pm doubleheader.

Ryan Hines picked up the win in the opener, limiting the Tornadoes to three runs on seven hits in five innings of work. He struck out nine and walked a pair. Jeff Price worked the final two innings, fanning three and allowing only two base runners.

Payne Palmer ignited the offense, finishing 3-for-3 with 4 RBI and a homer. Ryan Parazine finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a double, and Jared Brannon went 2-for-4 with one RBI at the top of the order.

In the finale, the Rams' offense was handcuffed by Talladega starter Ryne Drummonds, who worked seven innings of four-hit shutout ball. He struck out five and walked two. Shane Ikner was the tough-luck loser after giving up two runs on five hits in five innings of work. He fanned five.

Palmer went 1-for-2 with a double, while Brady King went 2-for-3.

Will Thompson went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI for the Tornadoes.
