MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball program announced the signing of Baker High School product Jessica Rogers.
Rogers, a shortstop, earned several accolades at Baker and is excited about staying close to home and playing college ball.
"Coach Terri McCormick is a great coach, I liked the opportunity to play college softball close to home, and it's a great school and competitive team," Rogers said. "It's a great fit for me."
Rogers and her teammates won the 6A State Championship in 2007 and she was named Offensive Player of the Year in 2008. In 2009, she was named to the Alabama All-Star South Team, Golden Glove and was the team leader in RBIs. She was named Press-Register Super 12 Honorable Mention 2007-09.
That success and her hard work will help Rogers as she heads to the college level in 2011.
"I'm going to work hard and try my best to find my place on the team," Rogers said. "I'll compete and I don't like to lose."
She chose Mobile over Belhaven University and University of West Florida, among others.
