MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team will kick off the 2012 SSAC Women's Basketball Tournament with a play-in game against Southern Wesleyan Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 11 am. (Bracket
Mobile (15-14, 9-9) is the 4th seed in the West, while Southern Wesleyan (13-16, 6-13) is the 5th seed in the East. The winner of the game will battle 7th-ranked Lee University Thursday at 9 am.
The Lady Rams visited Southern Wesleyan Nov. 30 and came away with a 62-59 victory. Courtney Bayliss led the team with 22 points in the game, while Briana Edwards had 14 points and 6 boards. Mobile won despite 21 turnovers and both teams shot below 34% from the free throw line.
Deonica McCormick leads Mobile with 14.2 points per game, 4.9 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.04 blocks per contest. Briana Edwards averages 12.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
Lauren Johnson leads the Warriors with 15.5 points and 2.5 assists per game, while Ashley Cooper averages 9.5 boards and .4 blocks per contest.
All games at the tournament are taking place at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
