19th-Ranked Lady Rams Split Home Doubleheader

MOBILE, Ala-- The 19th-ranked University of Mobile softball team split a home doubleheader with visiting Cardinal Stritch University Monday evening. Mobile dropped the first game 0-1 and took the finale 2-0.

Mobile (4-2) hosts Talladega for a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at 1 pm.

Kamaron Strickland picked up the win in the finale with a complete-game shutout, striking out five and allowing only four hits.

Mobile scored single tallies in the 3rd and 4th innings. Brittany Dunson singled to leadoff the 3rd, took second on a bunt, and scored on Jordan Coleman's base hit to left. In the 4th, Jessica Palmer was hit by a pitch to start the frame, moved up on a sac bunt, and scored on Brittany Dunson's single and a Wolves error.

Coleman and Dunson finished with two hits apiece for Mobile.

Alli Hall was the tough-luck loser in the opener, allowing only one unearned run on four hits, with five strikeouts in seven innings of work. Maggie Tidrow limited Mobile to three hits, while fanning 14 in a complete-game shutout.

Cardinal Stritch did not get the ball out of the infield in the 3rd, but still scored thanks to an infield single, sac bunt, error and groundout.
