MOBILE, Ala-- The 19th-ranked University of Mobile softball swept visiting Talladega College by scores of 6-1 and 7-0 Tuesday afternoon.
Mobile (6-2) hosts Lyon College at 4 pm Wednesday at Emmanuel College at 6 pm.
After two scoreless innings to start the opener, the Lady Rams scored in each of their final four at-bats, including two runs in the 4th and 6th innings.
Alli Hall struck out eight and allowed only one run on six hits in a complete-game effort. Brittany Dunson led at the plate with a 4-for-4 effort, while Allie Luster added a pair of hits and Jordan Coleman drove in a pair.
Mobile started the scoring in the 3rd when Korie Fontenot singled home Dunson, and tacked on two more in the 4th, when Morgan Pence hit a two-out RBI double and Dunson followed with a RBI-triple.
The final game started off with Coleman blasting a three-run homerun in the bottom of the 1st inning, and Kamaron Strickland shut down the visitors the rest of the way. Strickland pitched a complete-game three-hit shutout to get the win.
Coleman finished 3-for-4 with the three-run bomb, Dunson added three hits, Fontenot finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and Emily Vickrey added two doubles.
After Coleman's bomb in the 1st and a single tally in the 2nd, the Lady Rams tacked on one in the 5th and a pair in the 6th to pull away. Vickrey doubled home Coleman in the 5th, while Fontenot pulled a two-run double down the left field line in the 6th.
