Lady Rams Pick Up Big 5-4 Win Against Rival Badgers

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team beat rival Spring Hill 5-4 in an always-important Southern States Athletic Conference matchup Friday evening.

Mobile (8-0, 2-0) now has the edge in the hunt for the host bid to the 2013 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship. The Lady Rams visit Huntingdon March 19 at 1 pm.

The Lady Rams cruised in the top two doubles spots to open the match with a 2-1 lead. Aggy Rozite and Stephanie Tomita won 8-1 at No. 1 and Treya Smith and Ambria Phillips won 8-2 at the second slot.

In singles play, Phillips got the third point with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3, Rozite picked up the fourth point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1, and then Tomita clinched it. After dropping the opening set 3-6, Tomita bounced back to take the final two sets 6-3, 6-1 for the decisive win.
