Baseball Sweeps Hornets; Hamil Extends Streak To 15

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team picked up a pair of five-inning run-rule victories over visiting Concordia-Selma Tuesday, winning 14-0 and 12-2.

Mobile (19-9, 7-5) visits Auburn-Montgomery for a three-game set this weekend, beginning Friday at 6 pm.

Cole Vaughan and Dustin Pugh combined for a no-hitter in game one, with Vaughan working four innings of no-hit ball with one walk and three strikeouts. Pugh worked a scoreless 5th.

The Rams' offense pounded out 14 runs on 15 hits. Brady King finished 2-for-3 with three RBI, Braxton Hamil went 1-for-2 with four RBI and Jared Brannon, Ryan Parazine, Philip McDuffie, Justin Beck and Payne Palmer each added two hits for Mobile.

After the Rams scored three in the first two innings, they broke it open in the 3rd, scoring eight runs on seven hits. Beck and Hollinghead started the scoring outburst with RBI-singles, Hamil doubled home three and McDuffie followed by doubling home Hamil.

In the finale, Chase Jordan and Charlie Stevenson combined to limit the Hornets to two runs on five hits. Jordan got the win after allowing two runs on five hits in four innings of work.

At the plate, Neil Hudson went 2-for-2 with three RBI, Palmer added three hits, Brannon scored three runs and Parazine went 2-for-4. Hamil finished with a double and a RBI to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.

Mobile took control of the game early with a seven-run 1st inning. After a leadoff walk to Brannon, Palmer and Hamil went back-to-back with RBI-doubles to start the scoring. Hudson and Raley added RBI-singles and Parker Hollinghead produced a RBI-double.
