Thibodaux-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell to NCAA I Nicholls State University 81-60 Monday in exhibition action at Stopher Gym in Thibodaux, La.
Donte Walker tallied 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting to lead Mobile and Robert Golston added 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Anatoly Bose paced the Colonels of Nicholls State with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while Chris Iles tallied 21 points while hitting 4-of-7 three-pointers.
The Colonels shot an impressive 62% from the field, while Mobile hit 48%. Nicholls State also knocked down 9-of-16 three-pointers and only turned the ball over 11 times, while Mobile turned the ball over 21 times in the game.
The opening half set the tone for the game, while the Colonels shooting a sizzling 76% from the floor and turning 15 Ram turnovers into 24 easy points. Mobile actually held a 5-4 lead early in the game, but the Colonels went on a game-changing 19-4 run to take a 23-9 lead with 12:14 remaining. Mobile worked it down to an 8-point lead with 6:04 remaining on a Walker jumper, but the Colonels closed the half with a 18-6 run to take a 20-point lead into intermission.
The Rams (5-2) return to action at home Monday, Jan. 4 at 7 pm against Faulkner University.
