Rams Knock Off No. 20 AUM

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team knocked off NAIA No. 20 Auburn University-Montgomery 78-76 at Pharr Gymnasium Thursday evening in non-conference action.
 
In a physical game, featuring 63 total fouls and 50 turnovers, the Rams hit 25-of-35 from the charity stripe in the second half, compared to 18-of-27 from AUM.
 
Donte Walker led the Rams with a game-high 28 points, including 20 points in the second half. Robert Golston added 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Ji Kimbrough and Spencer Duke each finished with 10 points.
 
Charles Perona's 24 points led AUM, while leading scorer Daniel Quinlan was held to 2 points and finished with 8 turnovers.
 
The teams traded leads throughout the first half, with Mobile taking a 27-26 advantage into the locker room. AUM tied it up at 32-32 in the second half, but Walker answered with a three-point play for the Rams to give Mobile the lead for good with 15:41 remaining. Mobile built its largest lead of the half with 1:25 remaining when Duke hit a free throw to go ahead 67-56.
 
The Rams hit only 9-of-18 from the free throw line the rest of the way, but held on.
 
Mobile (4-1) visits NCAA I University of Louisiana Lafayette for an exhibition game Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7:05 pm.
