DALLAS, Texas--- The University of Mobile men's soccer team scored a pair of early goals and hung on to beat Northwood University 2-1 Monday afternoon in non-conference action.
Mobile (5-6, 1-0) will return to action against Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe Belhaven College Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 pm.
The Rams out-shot the Northwood Knights 23-14 and finished with a 15-6 edge in shots on goal. Jason Williams allowed 1 goal and collected 5 saves to pick up the victory for Mobile.
Onesimus Ikungo tallied an unassisted goal just 3:30 into action, and then Gerardo Flores fed Ikungo for the clincher in the 12th minute.
The Knights tallied their goal in the 63rd minute from point-blank-range, but Williams made four saves the rest of the way to preserve the win for the Rams.
Ikungo now has five goals in the last five games for the Rams.
